Giving It All

Mark 12

41 Jesus sat down near the collection box in the Temple and watched as the crowds dropped in their money. Many rich people put in large amounts. 42 Then a poor widow came and dropped in two small coins.

43 Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I tell you the truth, this poor widow has given more than all the others who are making contributions. 44 For they gave a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she had to live on.”

Giving from our surplus is not impressive to God. No matter how large that gift is. No, God has called us to give our all to His Kingdom. To do any less is to shortchange God and ourselves! God didn’t give us the surplus of His Love, He gave us His One and Only Son so that we could have life everlasting with Him! How dare we think that we can throw God our leftovers! How dare we claim to love God without giving our all for Him! That isn’t love, it is condescension or even hatred. Lord, help me to give my all to YOU every day. Thank You for accepting my loving offering. May I help others to shower You with love every day by the way I shower You with my love.
