Romans 4
4 When people work, their wages are not a gift, but something they have earned. 5 But people are counted as righteous, not because of their work, but because of their faith in God who forgives sinners.
It doesn’t matter how hard we work at it, we cannot earn our salvation. Period. End of Discussion. It is only through the Precious Blood of Christ that we are placed in a righteous position before The Holy God. My faith in Christ, as expressed through my obedience to the Gospel is the parallel to Paul’s discussion of Abraham in Romans 4. Abraham is credited with faith, but his faith was expressed through his obedience to God. So is mine. May Jesus be glorified by my obedience.
