Encouraging Words

Micah 5

2 But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah,

are only a small village among all the people of Judah.

Yet a ruler of Israel will come from you,

one whose origins are from the distant past.

Once again, hundreds of years before the birth of Christ, God spoke through a prophet to encourage His people to hang in there. As we are in the midst of the celebration of this Holy Season of Christmas, I want to remind followers of Christ to hang in there. Don’t be swayed by the culture that would try to take our focus off of the Christ, and place it on material greed. Don’t allow the joy of Jesus in our lives be taken away from the grinches who rail against manger scenes in the public square. We don’t need those physical reminders, we need to stay grounded in God’s Word. We need to listen to the voice of God and allow that voice to drown out all of the pap being spewed in our society. Jesus has come, He was born of a virgin. Jesus lived on this planet, and He died on the cross to take away our sins. Jesus raised from the dead, defeating death and hell, and He now sits at the right hand of God the Father, speaking to Him on our behalf. Praise God! The ruler whose origins are from the distant past has fulfilled God’s plans for the redemption of us all!
