Humbly Serving

James 4

7 So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world. 9 Let there be tears for what you have done. Let there be sorrow and deep grief. Let there be sadness instead of laughter, and gloom instead of joy. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.

Okay, let’s think about this for a second. God Almighty Creator of heaven and earth on the one side. Me on the other. How could I be anything less than humble? Yet, why is it that my pride, my arrogance, and my sense of self righteousness always seem to kick in leading me away from where God would have me to be? Because humility is not natural for me. Satan knows that, and uses it to his advantage. Since I know that, I must work that much more diligently to not allow satan the victory in that area of my life. I am humbled to think that God could love me in spite of who I am. May I serve Him only. Daily. Humbly.
