Only One Work

John 6

29 Jesus told them, “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent.”

The crowds are pressing Jesus at every turn. He is the best show going after all. However, in this passage, Jesus is going to challenge them to the core, and many will stop following Him. First, they ask Jesus how they can do the work of God, and Jesus makes it about as plain as it can be made: “Believe in the one he has sent.” God sent Jesus, and it is our job to believe Jesus. Biblical belief is more than mental assent; it requires action. I believe Jesus therefore, I will do my best to lead others to His Saving Grace at every opportunity.
