Harvest Time

Matthew 9

35 Jesus traveled through all the towns and villages of that area, teaching in the synagogues and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom. And he healed every kind of disease and illness. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. 38 So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.”

The work of the Kingdom of Jesus continues today, and the fields are still filled with a harvest to be gathered up for Christ. It makes me sad t see people who claim to be Christ-followers who think that “their church” is fine just the way it is, that no more people should be brought in, taught and won to Christ. It makes me sad that we turn churches into our own little social clubs without regard for the crowds that are still confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. This morning, I am praying that God will forgive us for our disobedience to the Gospel, and that we will indeed seek opportunities to win people to Christ and start gathering in His harvest today!
