16 Do not be overrighteous,
neither be overwise—
why destroy yourself?
So many folks who claim to follow Christ are overrighteous. They take the teachings of Jesus to an extreme so that the teachings are no longer recognizeable. I have been guilty of that attitude at times in my Christian walk. I pray that I am wise enough to avoid that trap in the future. May I simply rely of Jesus and not try to be overrighteous. The righteousness of Jesus is more than enough for me!
