What Part of Gently and Humbly is misunderstood here?

Galatians 6

1 Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself. 2 Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ. 3 If you think you are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important.

I cannot help but think of how my brother Brent has been treated by a fellow “minister,” when I read these words. While Brent certainly had some fault in the situation and sin for which to repent (and he did), this guy was anything but gentle. This guy did not seek to restore, but rather to destroy Brent. My heart is broken. Not just for Brent, but for this guy, and for the congregation that is now torn up in turmoil because a supposedly godly man chose to be anything but godly in how he handled this situation. May the good Lord have mercy on everyone involved.
