Poor In Spirit

Matthew 5

3 “God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him,
for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.

I like the way the NLT renders this verse. Yes, I know the Greek indicates that the phrase is “poor in spirit.” I also believe that those of us who are poor in spirit must come to the realization that we NEED God. I need Him every second of every minute of every hour of every day. Those aren’t just words on a page, but the prayer of my heart. I know that I am NOTHING without God, and I am okay with that.
