1 Chronicles 5
18 There were 44,760 capable warriors in the armies of Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh. They were all skilled in combat and armed with shields, swords, and bows. 19 They waged war against the Hagrites, the Jeturites, the Naphishites, and the Nodabites. 20a They cried out to God during the battle, and he answered their prayer because they trusted in him.
It occurs to me as I read this passage today that in the midst of the battle, because of their trust in God, He answered their prayers. It is not that the people cried out to God in the midst of their battle, it is that they trusted God! We are in the midst of a battle every day…a battle for our eternal existence, a battle for our attention, a battle to live in such a manner as to bring glory and honor to God. We need to trust in God. Then, when we do cry out to Him, we can be assured that He will hear our cries. I feel the battle raging all around me these days, and I want to put all my trust in God through His Son, Jesus. Only then, can I be assured that “everything will work out.” I’m not asking for it to work out my way, but His way!
