Mark 2
16 But when the teachers of religious law who were Pharisees saw him eating with tax collectors and other sinners, they asked his disciples, “Why does he eat with such scum?”
17 When Jesus heard this, he told them, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do. I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.”
I am a sinner. I am in need of my Savior Jesus every day. I cannot be the person God created me to be without Jesus working in my life every single day. I am anything but righteous. It is the righteousness of Jesus living in me that allows me the opportunity to stand before God and claim to be one of His children. To quote a Casting Crowns song: “Not because of who I am, but because of what You’ve done. Not because of what I’ve done, but because of Who You are.” Thank You, Jesus, for rescuing a sinner like me!
