6b “ ‘These people honor me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from me.
7 Their worship is a farce,
for they teach man-made ideas as commands from God.’
8 For you ignore God’s law and substitute your own tradition.”
When Jesus quotes Isaiah in this passage of Scripture, He i talking to the religious leaders of His day. I wonder what Jesus would say to the religious leaders in the United States of America today? I suspect it would be something eerily similar, since many of them have substituted their own traditions (sinner’s prayer for example) for the clear teachings in Scripture. Just a thought.
