Except

1 Kings 3

3 Solomon loved the Lord and followed all the decrees of his father, David, except...

See, we know Solomon as the wisest man who ever lived (except for Jesus, of course), but did you catch the caveat expressed in this verse? EXCEPT. God is not pleased by our exceptions. God desires that we follow all of His ways, period. In Solomon’s case, he not only worshipped God, he also started worshipping idols of the pagan cultures around him. We American Christians struggle with that as well. There are plenty of American Idols (and I’m not just talking about a TV show), that tend to crowd out our time of worship for the One, True God. I pray that God not only forgives me of that sin, but strengthens me in combatting it with the goal in mind of eliminating it altogether. No exceptions!
