Filthy Rags

Isaiah 64
6 We are all infected and impure with sin.
When we display our righteous deeds,
they are nothing but filthy rags.

I just finished reading Mark Hall’s book, “Your Own Jesus” and in it is an illustration of this great biblical truth. Because we are infected with sin our righteous acts are nothing but filthy rags in God’s sight and those sin-infected acts of righteousness slow us down from being the people God intends for us to be. It’s not all about doing, it is about being. The doing comes from the being if you catch my drift. I must daily repent of my sins, so that I can be the person God intends for me to be. May I passionately pursue Jesus, and may HIS righteousness shine through in my life always.
