Quiet Life

1 Thessalonians 4

11 Make it your goal to live a quiet life, minding your own business and working with your hands, just as we instructed you before. 12 Then people who are not Christians will respect the way you live, and you will not need to depend on others.

Okay, so I flat-out struggle with this one. I have not been known to lead a quiet life over the past 26 years in my walk with Christ. I have stood at the forefront of the battle against abortion, the radical homosexual agenda, and pornography. I have written letters to the editor of the newspaper, marched in protests locally and in Washington DC, and have led boycotts. Honestly, all of those activities made me feel good, and hopefully showed the Christian alternative to the pagan culture in which we live. But have any of those activities led to eternal changes? THAT is the question of the day, my friends. My one-on-one times with men I am mentoring has been much more effective. My open display of unconditional love to others has lifted the name of Christ much higher. My change from right-wing radical to follower of Christ has left me much more satisfied. I pray that I will live my life today in such a manner as to draw others to Jesus. Nothing more and nothing less.
