I Ask For Nothing More

1 Corinthians 3

5 After all, who is Apollos? Who is Paul? We are only God’s servants through whom you believed the Good News. Each of us did the work the Lord gave us. 6 I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow. 7 It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow. 8 The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work. 9 For we are both God’s workers. And you are God’s field. You are God’s building.

I love the attitude of Paul as expressed here. Paul knows that it is not all about him. Yeah, he is God’s chosen Apostle to the Gentiles, but he knows that he is simply a bond servant for the Lord Jesus. It is all about Jesus all the time. Over the years, I have struggled with spiritual jealousy, but I have come to learn that I am where I am because that is where God wants me. I have submitted my life to Christ, and want nothing for than for Him to use me as He sees fit. I am now quite content in that attitude. I love where I am and what I am doing because I know that it is where and what God wants. I know that the seeds I have planted for Jesus are many. I know that many of those seeds are growing into far greater men and women for the Gospel that I could ever be, and I am perfectly fine with that. May Jesus be glorified by all I do every day. How could I dare ask for anything more?
