1 Dear brothers and sisters, not many of you should become teachers in the church, for we who teach will be judged more strictly.
For me personally, this is one of the most sobering verses in all of Scripture. I AM a teacher in the church, and I KNOW that I will be judged more strictly because of it. That is why I endeavor to teach what the Scripture says, not what I want it to say. That’s why I remind my students often that they should not take my word for it, make sure that my words match up with God’s Word. I pray that my preparation for leading study of God’s Word brings glory and honor to Him, and that my teaching is ONLY what He wants. Nothing more and nothing less.
