Yahweh's Compassion

Exodus 34

6 The Lord passed in front of Moses, calling out,

“Yahweh! The Lord! The God of compassion and mercy! I am slow to anger and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness. 7a I lavish unfailing love to a thousand generations. I forgive iniquity, rebellion, and sin. But I do not excuse the guilty.”

Spoken from the mouth of Yaweh Himself. Let there be no doubt that God is a God of loving forgiveness. Let there be no doubt that God is a God of justice. The guilty are without excuse when they stand before God. Those who do not repent, seeking God’s forgiveness, and who are not baptized into Christ are without excuse. God’s Word is true. His expectations are clear. His Son is the Savior, and obedience is required. To those of us who follow Christ to the best of our abilities, God bestows His unfailing love, faithfulness, and forgiveness.
