1 Corinthians 16
13 Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. 14 And do everything with love.
Five commands from Paul in these two short verse of Scripture. Followers of Christ would do well to heed these commands. Satan does indeed prowl around like a roaring lion (1 Peter 5:8), so we need to stand guard. We need to stand firm in the faith, and not allow it to be watered down by culture or by false teachings. It takes true courage to stand up against such false teachings, because those teachings (“pray Jesus into your heart,” etc.) are so popular within the “Christian World.” In order to be strong, we must be in the Word of God every day. We must allow God to speak to us directly through the Bible, and not rely on someone else’s interpretation of what God says (don’t eat pre-chewed food). Then, there is that command to do it all in love again. Remembering the definition of love as was given in 1 Cor. 13. Yeah, this Christ following thing is not for wimps!
