Name Filled With Power

Jeremiah 10

6 Lord, there is no one like you!

For you are great, and your name is full of power.

This is perhaps one of my favorite descriptions of the name of the Lord ever! Jeremiah makes no bones about it: there is no one like our God, for He is Great and His name is FULL of power! Remember, the Hebrews were afraid to speak the name of God...they were afraid to write out the full name of God! Their fear was based on the notion that they might accidentally misuse His name, thereby breaking the 2nd Commandment (Exodus 20:7 "You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.”) Oh, to have that kind of awe for the name of the Creator of the universe. Oh, to live in awe of the Creator of the universe. Yes, the Author of life has given us unprecedented access to Him through Jesus, but I would caution anyone who gets to cozy in that relationship. God is still God. And we are not!
